Bill Quote
I ran into this quote today: “There are no significant bugs in our released software that any significant number of users want fixed.” (Bill Gates)
Maybe is time we start counting?

“…it’s a tough job even for developers who are trying to be cross-browser friendly…”
What is a tough job? Assuring our websites work well on all browsers and operating systems but it is specially tough when the majority of the users, around 60%, are using one of the three versions of IE which are all different between them.
Can’t we sue Microsoft?
Sorry people, we are currently taking a vacation and visiting with our guru so we can regain some sanity before we attempt to work with IE.
We’ll be back in a couple of days with all things IE.
“Sorry,
I am still a newbie, and getting more frustrated all of the time.
I have been working on a website for work, using the Sons of Ursidae menus.
I had previously tried to use the Sons of Suckerfish menu, and I got it to work in IE, but unfortunately, the third level menu was much too short and caused the form name to show up on mutiple lines. See www.twiggtimes.com/cccco/index4.htm
So I after researching, I found that this was a problem with this type of menu. So I found the Sons of Ursidae menu. www.twiggtimes.com/cccco/index10.htm which overcame that problem. The javascript was moved into a separate file, as I had read that it would be better to only load it when necessary, and to keep the html looking better.
I kept fighting with it, and could not get it to work in IE 7. Then I decided to try it in Firefox, and it worked. I also tried it in Opera, and again it worked. I do have an issue with the video showing up on top on the menu, but I would change the video back to a image file in a heartbeat to get the menu to work.
Is there something that is obvious to you that I am missing?
This thing is becoming more annoying to me everyday.
Thanks for your time,
Patrick”
Haven’t tested this one since I am working mostly on a mac and I don’t wan’t to screw up my VMWare installation with the crappy IE8 Beta, but apparently IE8 is breaking more than maps and now web based email clients have been added to it.
Haven’t testes this myself but apparently Microsoft put a little thought into it and released a way for developers to test different versions of IE
I like this article because it is the first one that I’ve seen in a while that doesn’t suck up to internet explorer 8 by talking about how it passes the acid2 test which it doesn’t.
Now, for the sake of argument I’m going to forget about the little ActiveX issue which causes IE8 to not pass the test and go along the lines that it does indeed passes it. Great, now what? Well for starters, is messing up maps, even some with the Emulate IE7 button turned on, security is still an issue and it’s not offering the level of security firefox is offering and it is even breaking it’s own Mircosoft Websites (I’m sure this one will be fixed very soon but it’s funny to point it out).
On top of this Microsoft hasn’t learned from the past and it is creating browser specific innovations which is one of the main reasons their browser sucks inn the first place. To make my point clearer, by adopting technologies that are only available on IE8, Microsoft is doing three things wrong:
Yes I know it is just a Beta but as I said before, if IE7 was a step forward from IE6, why don’t you just fix what it had wrong instead of creating something completely new that is breaking even more things than IE6? No one knows.
We should have an International day of celebration for making your Web surfing experience easier, fun and simple.
But until we get our day, you can at least help us by dropping ie6.
It’s time to “Save The Developers“
Things have been quiet as for Internet Explorer news and so far I have been working on some database and php coding so I haven’t seen any new errors.
But don’t worry, Im sure Microsoft will screw up shortly.
